Valkyria Chronicles II PSP
Valkyria Chronicles II PSP Review
Valkyria Chronicles was first released in the year 2008 on the PS3 platform. The PS3 owners were taken aback by the stunning game art and a genre of unique turn based strategy. Even though there were good points in the game, it couldn’t manage to garner good success in the commercial market and the follow up faltered. However, after 3 years the makers again ventured in the market and came up with the sequel of the game i.e. Valkyria Chronicles II and this time they launched the game on the PSP platform.

How to play?
In the game, you play the character Avan who is a young lad. He was told that his brother (who was a cop) perished in action. However, Avan is doubtful, he believes that his brother is still alive and thus to seek the truth he joins the same academy called Lanseal while a civil war is going on. In his journey of finding the truth about his brother’s life, he also saves the nation from being taken control by the rebel forces.
You will lead your classmates in the game when there will be battles against the rival students or with the rebel forces. There will be different objectives put in front of you and you will need to make teams to fight in the battle and make your decisions wisely keeping in mind the objectives. However, the strategy based game lovers will be disappointed with the type of objectives the game offers to them. I mean what’s with the escorting of the units or the “kill all enemies” orders? Are we playing a challenging brain racking game or just pacman?
As previously said, the game works on turns. Each player moves his units when turn comes and completed the objectives while using the map. There are five different classes in the game available for you. These classes range from the regular scouts to heavy duty lancers. You can upgrade to a better class when the performance of the characters improves and as the game progresses.
You choose your squad and move along the battle field. When confronted with rebel forces or the rival teams, you will have to fight then. Now, you can choose any class here. Each of them has their own strengths and weakness. For e.g. – the armor techs require you to have them up-close for attacking and the shocktroppers have good amount of the ammo.

Patapon 3
Patapon 3 PSP Review
If you haven’t played the previous versions of the Patapon game then you are seriously warned. You are going to take a lot of time to get acquainted with the game. It may even take hundreds of minutes for you to reach to the core of the game.

What is the game all about?
In the game you control an army of tiny eyeball shaped creatures which work on the arrangement of the rhythmic chants. You issue different commands by using the combination of different sounds. The commands include retreat, attack, etc. You can make any specific sound with the help of the face buttons. The difficult part is to stay on the beat.

How is it different from its predecessors?
In the previous of Patapon the chant combinations were not visible to the player. However, in Patapon 3 you do get to see the chant combinations on the screen which are located at the bottom. It won’t be that hard to memorize these chant combinations as there are just a few of them. You will have to pass the tutorial level which comes when the game begins.
The game has a pause chant which will stop the battle on beat but you will have to earn this chant by completing the tutorial level. You are warned here that this tutorial level is not that easy as you must be assuming. As a matter of fact, this round actually pissed me off several times and I could complete the level after many attempts.
However, Patapon’s impressive art style and body shaking music will make you addicted to it and you will find it so hard to keep away the PSP console for even a while. The game comment is so vast that you can actually get 30 hours of the gameplay.
Player Modes
There is a multiplayer mode also available which is as difficult to decipher as with the single player mode. There are a number of different matches and campaigns and also there are some special challenges in which you will have to take the help of your team mates in order to fight. You can earn bonuses by making your own clan and visiting another player’s blacksmith. It is better to have matches with different players as it will keep your excitement and enthusiasm flourishing and reduce the tedium. Besides, you will also gain some loot with the help of them.
There are no helpful hints and tutorials so it will take a while to get through the levels and you will need to put some good effort to learn about different items and the techniques to attack. It could be easily said that the initial hours of yours with the game will basically depend on just some trial and error attempts. You may even get frustrated (as I got too) but then after giving some time to it you will begin to fall in love with it. The players who have played the previous versions of Patapon may however disagree. Well, they are used to all this after all.
